We are pleased to announce that the ISAC 2025 officially began on Wednesday, November 5th, and as we now embark on our third day of intense scholarly discourse, it is the perfect moment to reflect on the successful opening.
The conference was inaugurated with a formal welcome from the directors and organisers, followed by two keynote lectures that framed the core themes of the event.
Prof. Hugh Kennedy presented the lecture „The Fall and Rise of the Urban Citadel: Decastellamento and recastellamento in the cities of the Islamic Middle East in the first four centuries of Muslim Rule.”
Dr. Martina Müller-Wiener delivered a presentation on „Islamic archaeology and the museum: past incentives and current challenges.”
Please view the gallery below to see images from the opening sessions and the ongoing discussions.
The momentum continues! We are currently enjoying an incredible exchange of ideas and insights as the program unfolds.
